In order to provide our Members and guests with the best golfing experience all year round, our greens, fairways and tees are fully renovated annually. The months allocated to conduct these renovations are generally the end of April and beginning September each year.

The process of renovation means that the greens, fairways and tees are lightly scarified, cored and top-dressed. This will cause little, if any inconvenience as the course remains quite playable however it will not be in its usual pristine condition.

Our Superintendent Jeffery Simes, expects full recovery within two to three weeks from the commencement of the renovations. Although this disrupts optimum playing conditions, these renovations are necessary to ensure that healthy greens are maintained over the coming year.

Friends Of The Environment

More than 1,300 small targeted sprinkler heads deliver a fraction of water most golf course systems pump, resulting in little runoff, if any.

Any runoff is captured in grassy depressions and ponds and naturally filtered before it returns to the creeks within the property and re-used again on the golf course.

A central computer with more than 20 hours of data entry controls the system. Wheras most systems deliver a soaking volume, Macquarie Links' system delivers small programmed volumes of water to selected areas, then revisits areas again as required in a carefully programmed sequence.

This approach results in a most efficient use of water and ensures that no area is over or under watered.

Following completion of the golf course, over 1500 Eucalyptus Trees and 6 hectares of native grasses have been planted. Native grasses include Soughum, Eragrostis and Pennisetum. In addition, aquatic planting occurs as part of the regeneration along Bunbury Creek thus providing a beautiful natural environment for birds and wildlife, whilst at the same time assisting in the prevention of noxious weeds.
