Q. What types of grasses are used?
A. SR 1020 Creeping Bent on Greens; CT2 Couch on Fairways, Tees and Roughs.
Q. What does the practice area include?
A. The practice fairway is 255 metres in length and includes 4 large turfed teeing areas, 10 synthetic grass covered and open bays, a chipping, pitching and sand bunker practice and putting green area. In addition, there are 4 target greens surrounded with bunkers that simulate actual playing conditions, giving you the feel that you are actually playing a hole.
Q. How is the course landscaped?
A. Course Designer Robin Nelson intent was to create a links style golf course with an Australian character - hence the name. The course is a combination of links style golf with a heathland or "bush" character. Native grasslands, stands of mature gum trees and unique "outback" site furniture provide strong Australian character. Existing and manmade creeks, lakes and subtle topographic formations all combine to create natural golf holes that ebb and flow with the natural lie of the land. The secondary rough is planted with natural Australian flora which blends seamlessly with existing pastoral surrounds.
Q. How long is the golf course?
A. The course is a Par 72 course measuring some 6,278 meters in length from the Championship tees, but not overly long by modern standards - the course is a challenge to shot making but not a tortuous test of length. Multiple tees give golfers of all standards the ability to enjoy their game with an appropriate level of challenge.
Q. Are there any special features?
A The course has fairly wide fairways to encourage free and quick play, however, strategically placed bunkers and other hazards guard the ideal line of play to the small greens. The bunkers themselves are a combination of traditional Scottish sod faced bunkers, deep pot bunkers and larger open faced bunkers in the style of Melbourne's great sandbelt courses.
Q. Is there a "special hole"?
A. As Robin Nelson states "they are all special and all offer their own challenges". However, one of the feature signature holes include the par 3, 11th featuring a 170 metres carry over a creek to a strategically placed green nestled amongst a natural amphitheatre of Australian Gums & foliage.
